Golf May 2023

Four girls from 6th class - Niamh Ahearne, Grace Dwyer, Lara O’Rourke & Leah Walsh - took part in the Castle Schools Cup golf competition in the Castle Golf Club in Rathfarnham on Monday 29th May.

We were very lucky with the sunny weather and there was lots of nature on the beautiful golf course. We played a “scramble” on the front 9 holes of the golf course. Karol O’Brien, a father of one of the other competitors, accompanied us around the course and took our scores. He was very kind and helpful and gave us a few good tips! Ms. Lamont and Ms. Dobey also joined us on the course. After the scramble, we had a golf lesson from two pro-golfers. We practised putting and chipping out of a bunker. The pros also demonstrated a ‘trick shot’ on how to spin the ball- we look forward to trying this the next time we play! To finish off the day, we had a lovely meal in the club house restaurant and attended the prize-giving ceremony. We were thrilled to receive runner-up medals at the prize giving. We really enjoyed the day and were very proud to represent our school in the Castle Schools Cup. We look forward to continuing to play golf over the summer months and into the future. by Grace Dwyer and Lara O’Rourke

Gaelic Football & Camogie

In May of last year, Hollypark started up a school hurling team. We competed in the Cumann na mBunscol and everyone really enjoyed it. In the Cumann na mBunscol, you play 5 matches, a semi-final and then the big final in Croke Park! Last year, we were lucky enough to get the opportunity to play in Croke Park and we brought the Cumann na mBunscoil cup back to Hollypark! Unfortunately, we weren’t as lucky this year but still had so much fun playing our matches and even played in a few play offs. We are so thankful to Ms Duggan, Ms Shannon and Ms Marnell who made our hurling team possible and our amazing coaches, Niamh Commanford (our favourite Dublin hurling player), Joanne and Pádraigín.
