and what a lovely evening it was! Well done to our stars in 3rd and 4th Class.
The Junior and Senior Infant plays took place in the hall on Thursday 12 th December
Ralph the Reindeer & A Miracle in Town. The girls entertained us royally – true stars in the making!
On Sunday 15th December the School Choir joined with the Parish Choir in a very special Parish fund-raising event in aid of Merchant’s Quay Ireland. Tickets were sold out for this concert and what a night it proved to be! We were treated to a wonderful musical evening with terrific performances from the girls, soprano Grace Foley, tenor Wayne Woodman and accompanists Cormuin Ó Raghallaigh on piano and Eoin Cooke on trumpet. Well done to the girls for their dedication, commitment and hard work.
We are delighted to say that €11500 was raised for the Merchant’s Quay Ireland.
Many thanks to everyone for their support of this great event.
The School Choir has recorded a Christmas CD and one of the tracks was recently
played on Lyric FM.
Thank you to our hard-working PA who organised our Santa Visit and Christmas Raffle which took place in the school on Tuesday 17 th December.
3rd Class have been working very hard and are almost ready for the Laudate Festival which will take place during Catholic Schools Week in the Church of St Pius X, Templeogue @ 7pm on Thursday 30 th January.
1st Classes treated us to a wonderful Christmas Miscellany as Gaeilge agus Béarla on Thursday 19 th December and our newly inaugurated Trad Band have been wowing the critics (teachers and pupils) since their first concert in the school on 18th December.
5th & 6th Class girls were presented with the Fáinne Airgid in recognition of their love
for, and standard of Irish. We are very grateful to our former Principal Ms Joan Casey
who visited us to present the Fáinne to the girls.
It has been a great first term here at Hollypark. Our Basketball Team brought home silverware from the National Basketball Arena and our School Swim Team has advanced to the Leinster Championships in Swimming which will take place in spring 2020. We were delighted to reach Croke Park in November and proud of our team who were very gracious in defeat – just one point separated the teams!
Hollypark GNS has been selected once again to participate in the ESB Science Blast which will take place in Limerick in spring 2020
Our Debating Team is making great strides in the Concern Debating Competition
recently advancing to the next round in this fiercely fought competition.
Our Maths Team came 5th in Dublin in the recent Inter-School Maths Quiz and a team
has just been selected to participate in the Credit Union Quiz.
The girls and our parents have ably embraced our WOW initiative and we are delighted
and proud that 80% of our girls continue to walk/scoot/cycle to school thus reducing
the traffic and our carbon footprint while simultaneously getting fitter and chattier.
Meanwhile the girls continue to work hard and achieve excellent results academically.
This is thanks in no small way to the excellent team of teachers and SNAs at
Hollypark and we are ably assisted by our administrative and ancillary staff. Thank you also to our parents who ensure that the girls arrive to school ready to learn,
and who generously support us in our many endeavours.
And finally, we are bidding farewell to a much-loved and valued member of staff.
Ms Kris Fitzgerald will be hanging up her box of chalk and her Notaí Dul Chun Chinn
and exchanging her great professional adventure for an exciting new stage in life as she retires following 40 years of dedicated service to the children of Hollypark GNS and other schools. We will all miss her hugely but wish her the very best in her new adventure - Ms Kris Fitzgerald will always be a member of the Hollypark GNS family.
'Non, je ne regrette rien!'
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and may the New Year bring good fortune to all. (Just to let you know…….I have it on very good authority
that all our Hollyparkers are on Santa’s Good List!!)
Enjoy your well-earned break and come back safely on Monday 6th January.
Nollaig faoi shéan and faoi mhaise daoibh go léir!
